Bruce Preeper Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Bruce John Preeper, Q. C. on Friday March 15th, 2024 at the South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater. He was born to the late Clyde Leo Preeper and Constance Margery Preeper (Moore), Nov. 05, 1944, at Tufts's Cove, Halifax County, Nova Scotia.

Bruce graduated from Dartmouth High School (Honours) in 1963 and received a B/Comm (Honours) in 1966. He graduated from Dalhousie Law in 1969. Bruce received his Queen's Counsel in 1986 which is awarded to members of the legal profession to recognize merit and outstanding contributions to the legal community. He was a member of the Nova Scotia Barristers' Society from 1970 -2015. He practiced law in Dartmouth, Halifax, Western Shore and Marriott's Cove, all in Nova Scotia. Bruce was a Life Member and Past President of the Royal Canadian Legion, Western Shore Branch # 144.

Bruce was survived by his sister-in-law Judy Preeper, Dartmouth N.S.; his niece and nephew Tracey and Leonard; two great nephews and Mary Anne Russell, New Ross N.S. who worked with Bruce for over 30 years and continued to cherish their friendship for years after.

Those who had the pleasure of meeting Bruce, would know that Bruce had a heart of gold and was very community-oriented and never hesitated to help others. As an intellect, Bruce would religiously read the daily newspaper, was a collector of many sorts of items and had a passion for knowledge. Bruce had the innate ability to converse with folks from various walks of life who bore witness to his wit and dry humor.

Bruce left us peacefully surrounded by loved ones and was cared for by the most amazing earth angels, Dr. Solomon and nurse Katie. Cremation has taken place and there will not be a visitation. A Celebration of Life will be held on April 27th, 2024 at 2pm at the Western Shore Legion Branch # 144. All are welcome. Donations in his memory may be made to the South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater or charity of choice. A private graveside service will be held at a later date. Humanity will be a lesser place without your presence. Bruce, you will be missed
