The “Best Big Brother Ever!!”, Tom was a dedicated teacher at J. A. Illsley High School, Halifax who held leadership positions with the Nova Scotia Teachers’ Union and was a member of the Board of the Nova Scotia Retired Teachers’ Association, volunteering in various roles over the years. Educated at Morrison High School and Dalhousie University, his expertise in the field of computer studies was developed from the early years of computer technology until his passing. In his retirement, Tom enjoyed an interesting association with the Gates Foundation. If you ever needed advice in this area, Tom was the best person to ask. He pursued his interest in music, piano (mentored by Mrs. Florence Adams) and pipe organs from a young age and was an avid listener and supporter of classical music. In addition to his immediate family, he has left a close-knit circle of friends who celebrate his life and mourn his passing. Internment arrangements to be announced at a later date. The family thanks all those who visited and supported Tom, especially Doreen and Karl, Anthony’s parents and the staff of the Victoria General Hospital and The Infirmary who cared for Tom over the past several months.
