It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Angus Daniel Cotie of East Tracadie on May 10, 2022, age 67.
Angus was born on November 11, 1954 to the late Ernest and Grace(Myette) Cotie of East Tracadie. Angus lived his entire life in East Tracadie and ran the family farm. Angus and his wife Dorothy shared over 41 years of marriage. His trade was a mason which he did most of his life. He was a fisherman’s helper with his brother Gerard and also for over 15 years with Buddy Fillmore. He spent much time in the woods when he wasn’t doing his other jobs.
Angus was a loved man of the community. You could always count on him to be driving East Tracadie road tooting and waving to all the neighbors, making his way to the wharf as he was Harbour Master. His love of cards always had a table full of people at his moms to play 45s in between barn work. The music in him had him playing guitar and mandolin at many parties throughout the area. He was well known for helping everyone, doing lawns, bringing smelts to seniors, working everyone’s hayfields and giving big waves and smiles to all he met. Angus was probably best known for how well he took care of his mother Grace in her last years of life. He was always there for her to keep the fires going, to cook for her, help with meds, take her for drives or save her from falling out of kitchen windows!! He was her saving grace! His love of children had his grand kids, nieces and nephews and most of the neighbourhood kids all loving to spend time with him. Angus will be missed in East Tracadie and area because he always had time for a smile, a good laugh and a chat. We will miss him!
He is survived by his wife Dorothy, stepson William Fraser (Antigonish). Step grandchildren Koady, Rebekka, Jarred, Cheyenne and Michael. Sisters Anne Boudreau and Peggy Cotie (East Tracadie), Ursula Purdy (Wallace), Laura Doyle (Erinville) and Sheila (Gary) Boudreau (Hampton NB). Brother Tony (Brenda) (Pomquet River). Brother in-laws Francis(Donna) Dewolf (Antigonish), Joseph(MaryAnne) (Ottawa) and lots of nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents, sister Christina, brothers Gerard (Evangeline), Hughie (Pat), Johnny. Sister in-law Jane.
