Carol McNeil Obituary

It is with great sadness that we say goodbye to Carol Ann McNeil (Copeland) who died peacefully at home, surrounded by her family, on February 16, 2024. Carol was born in Kentville, NS to Robert and Catherine (Kay) (Hopper) Copeland on Jan. 9, 1945. She is survived by Vince, her loving husband of 57 years, brother Robert (Judy) Copeland, children Shelly (Tim), Krista and Jeff (Diane), granddaughter Emma Miller (Curtis), brother and sister-in law and great friends, Don and Carmel and special extended family Christi, Jake (Rachel), Charley and Zack.

Carol found great joy in the close and happy life she shared with her family. An inseparable crew, their many family vacations to Costa Rica, trips to concerts and shows, Sunday dinners and barbeques, and family celebrations were her greatest pleasures. She was immensely proud of her family and thrilled to see her granddaughter Emma grow into a beautiful, caring Registered Nurse and return to Carol’s home in the Annapolis Valley to build her life with her wonderful husband Curtis. Above all else, Carol was grateful to have shared a long and happy marriage with Vince, the best husband and father any woman could hope for.

Carol worked in retail most of her life and made many wonderful friends along the way whom she loved dearly and felt lucky to have in her life. She was honoured to share in the joy of many wedding engagements in Halifax while selling diamonds at Mappins.

Carol’s family wishes to thank the many wonderful nurses and physicians who cared for Carol during her illness and her personal caregiver Vaboo who came into Carol and Vince’s life near the end and brought them friendship and joy. A special thanks to the QEII Palliative Care Service for enabling Carol’s final wishes.

In keeping with Carol’s wishes, cremation has taken place through East Coast Memorial. A family Celebration of Life will take place at a later date. Tributes and memories can be shared at
