Catherine Ann Sabean (Wagner)
June 24th, 1957 - March 7th, 2023
Passed away peacefully at Yarmouth Regional Hospital surrounded with
family by her side. After losing a long
battle with cancer.
Cathy was born in Plympton, Nova Scotia to Patricia Wagner (Amero) and
the late Carl Wagner. She is survived by her husband
Eben of 50 years together and married for 41 of them, children: John, Melinda
McCleave (Chris) and David (Charlotte), siblings: Yvonne (Ralph), Pam
(Stanley), Mark, Susan, Clyde (Michelle) and Peter (Lynette), in-laws: Maria Slater, Roy and Theresa Sabean, and Stella Cowland. Her
grandchildren who were her life Tristan, Emily, Josie, Brooke, Sierra, Nathan,
Layla, Alexis, Luca and Lana and many nieces and nephews.
Cathy at the age of 15 met Eben. Their first date at the Grand Pre Westling set the tone for the next 50 years. The two
of them worked hard to make a happy home and gave back to the community whether
for cadets, benefits, fire department, church or family/friends. She was known
for being a fantastic baker and cook. She loved
all the gatherings at the park, camp ground, her home or family reunions.
Cathy will be remembered for always being very honest, you never had to
guess what was on her mind. She loved with all her heart and showed this
through spoiling her grandkids whenever possible and always sticking up for her
kids over Eben.
She made many friends while working in the clams and Tideview. She
enjoyed her time more at Tideview when she was able to work beside her
daughter. Since Cathy retired and knowing time is precious her and Eben took
advantage of travelling around NS, camping, shopping, visiting grandkids and
family.
The only comfort for Cathy was knowing she would be reunited with her
Goddaughter and niece Tracy Cormier (Mullen).
A service for all will be on Thursday, March 16th at 11:00am at Saint
Peter’s Anglican Church Weymouth North, officiated by Barry Faulkner.
Reception to follow at the Plympton and Gilbert’s Cove Volunteer Fire Department.
Burial will be held at a later date when it is warm.
If you would like to make a donation you can in memory of Cathy at her
favourite charity - CNIB or of your choice.
The Family would like to thank the Yarmouth Regional Hospital and EHS staff for going above and beyond during this difficult time, Vanina Walsh - Nurse Practitioner, Amanda Thibault with Palliative Care, VON and Home First. And last but not least all the family and friends for everything you did over these past 4 years - she appreciated and loved the time with you all.
