It is with broken hearts that we, her family, announce the passing of a beautiful soul, Cynthia “Cindy” Jacqueline Emberly. Her heart was too full, too fragile, and gave out too soon. A lover of nature, music and laughter, we will now seek her Song on the wind, her Light in the flicker of a dragonfly’s wing.
Cindy was always the first to lend a hand, to share a coin. But life did not return her generosity and she had many struggles. She was raised in Timberlea where she loved sports and fishing and outdoor adventures of all kinds, but she grew to love all of Halifax. She also celebrated a visit to her mother’s Cape Breton Island and The Valley where she spent many happy days with her sister. She was a gifted baker and made many family wedding cakes. She was also a skilled painter and craftsperson. For the last few years she worked with LakeCity Works in Dartmouth.
She was the beloved mother of Melanie (Mitchell Snair) Emberly and stepmother to Jenelle Clarke. She was Grammie to her cherished Aria. A dear sister to Michael Emberly; Elizabeth Biggs; and Val (Anna) Emberly. A treasured aunt to Mark (Elaine); Stephen (Debbie); Sara (Darren); Leigh-Anne (Gordon); Sheldon (Sara); Leslie (Kirstie); Lisa (Joas); Leonard (Pam) and Lisa. A favourite great Aunt to Zevff; Brandon, Jennifer, Joy, Nathan and Jeremy; Connell; Anishka Oliver, Cynthia and Amelia; Kyle and Alisha. Cindy will also be missed by many special friends. She was predeceased by her adored parents, Vincent and Agnes (Donovan) Emberly and by her brother in-law, Wilfred Biggs, and her sister in-law, Wendy Emberly.
A more generous soul there never was. Cindy spread kindness wherever she went, to people and as a gentle friend to animals. Her loss is a tragedy.
Memorials may be made to the Nova Scotia SPCA, the Elizabeth Fry Society, LakeCity Works or to a mental health or addictions charity of your choice. A celebration of life for family and friends will be held at a later date.
