Darrell "Beanie" Eugene Barkhouse

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Darrell "Beanie" Eugene Barkhouse, born April 28, 1960 in Windsor, NS. He passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on September 1, 2023, at Hants Community Hospital.

Beanie was a beloved father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. He was the son of the late George Edward Barkhouse Sr. and Lillian Ruby (Edmonds) Barkhouse.

Beanie was a loving father to Jamie McDonald, Kelowna BC, Alicia McDonald (Nick), Trenton NS, Amber Sanford (Blaine), Hantsport NS, and Gregory Barkhouse (Kendyl), Windsor NS. He was a very proud grandfather to Brianna, Brooke, Evan, Nash, Skye, and Jaxson. Beanie is also survived by his former wife and mother of his children, Cindy.

Beanie was a beloved brother to George Jr. (Debbie) Barkhouse, Donna (Stephen) Allen, and Cheryl (Gary) Anthony. He was also a cherished brother-in-law, uncle to many nieces, nephews, and cousins, and a special godfather to Chassidy Ruby Ann.

Beanie is predeceased by his parents, George Sr. and Lillian.

The family would like to thank a few close special friends of Beanie's;  Lorrie (Kelly), Larry (Karleen), Cynthia, Pam and his neighbor's who were all there for him in his time of need. Thank you for being a part of dads village. He appreciated and loved every single one of you.

Beanie was a passionate mechanic and worked at Jeff's Service Centre in Falmouth, until his retirement in 2009. He enjoyed motorcycles especially his 1983 Honda V65 Magna, flying his RC airplanes, playing bass guitar with his band "Time Machine", karaoke with all of his friends, fishing trips, camping and fixing anything he could get his hands on.

Beanie will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. His memory will live on in the hearts of his family and friends.

A graveside service will be held on Friday, September 8th, 2023, at 11AM at Maplewood Cemetery. All friends and family are welcome. A Celebration of life will be held following the graveside service on Friday, at Tommy Guns in Windsor starting at 6pm.
