David Nicholas Mitchell, age 73 of Newport Corner passed away peacefully at the Hants Community Hospital on Tuesday June 14, 2022.
Born In Halifax, he was the son of the late Nicholas and Mary (Ryall) Mitchell. At the age of 19, David became an Electrician by trade, but chose a profession that kept him on the water, working for Beaver Marine and MacNally Construction for the past 40 years where he held the role of foreman. He was also a proud member of the International Union of Operating Engineers, Local 721.
In his earlier years, Dave enjoyed fishing, camping and hosting family gatherings. David's biggest Passion was looking after his family and close friends. He was always the first one to offer a helping hand, always putting the needs of his loved ones first. “The old man” loved unconditionally and without judgment. He always looked forward to visits with his Fur buddies Fozzie and Rufus. His door was always open and in his free time you could find him and Troy in “the barn” where he spent many hours welcoming anyone who dropped by for a visit.
David is survived by his dedicated and loving wife Almeta (Dee). Daughters; Joanne Mitchell and Denise Rafuse (Shane Timmins). Sons Joey Mitchell, Nicholas Mitchell, Trevor Rafuse and Troy Rafuse (Jacqueline Shanks). Sisters; Kim (Mike) Bonin, Sherry (Maurice) Larade . Brothers Jimmy (Linda), Richard (Ellen) and Dana, as well and 14 grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, David is predeceased by his brother Terry and stepmother Helen Mitchell.
As per request, there will be no visitation and a private service will be held at St. Croix cemetery at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Palliative Care unit at the Hants Community Hospital, Windsor.
