Donald “Bud” Arthur Lane
Age 91, of Mosherville, passed away on Tuesday January 26th, 2021 at his residence of Dykeland Lodge, in Windsor Nova Scotia. Bud was born in Windsor, Nova Scotia on December 13th, 1929, he was the son of the late Arthur William and Nellie Rae (Smith) Lane of Mosherville, Nova Scotia.
Bud was a true gentleman in every sense of the word. He made everyone he met feel welcome and like family. He married his sweetheart, Marion Marjorie Mitchell, on July 14th, 1950. Building a wonderful life with Marion, having three daughters and many family pets.
Bud loved to travel and go camping with his family and friends. He loved competing in dog trials with Marion and Nadine. Bud loved passing his time with doing crosswords, puzzles and reading about airplanes and history. Bud loved spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Bud was also known for his love of music and playing his harmonica. He kept busy with activities like beachcombing, bonfires, beach BBQ’s, museum trips and attending the annual Stanley Fly-in with family and friends.
In Donald’s younger years he was a member of the Windsor Auxiliary Police Department, he took great pride in serving his community, also he was a member of the Army Reserves where traveled around Canada for training. He later went on to earn his official Driver Instructor license. Bud held a pilot license for many years, and shared a plane with Dickie, that was stored at the Stanley Airport, in Stanley Nova Scotia.
Buddy loved sharing his stories of his youth with all who would listen, stories of traveling, horse shows, stories of his girls and working with his brothers and father at the Lane Brother Farm Produce Limited and working at Municipal (Dexter’s Construction).
Donald is survived by his only living daughter, De Anna Aston (Tim), Brooklyn, son-in-law Dan Andrews, Mosherville; grandsons, Christopher Crowell (Lynn), Mosherville, Richard Aston (Haley), Mosherville, Devin Crowell (Amy), Lakeview, granddaughters, Tatum Lane Aston (Jeff) Stephenville, NL, Alyse Andrews (Marc) Nine Mile River, Kelsey Andrews (Andrew) Mount Uniacke, great grandchildren, Victoria Ryan, Samuel Ryan, Gabriel Ryan, Maxwell Ryan, Colton Crowell, Marina Crowell, Elliot Crowell, Sadie Crowell, Kaelyn Aston, Nathaniel Aston, Freya Andrews, Finley Greencorn and Eion Greencorn; also survived by his brother Roy Lane (Diane) of Harvey Station, New Brunswick, brother-in-law, Raymond Simm, sisters-in-law, Gertrude Lane of Windsor NS and Arlene Lane of Dykeland, Windsor NS. Besides Bud’s parents, he is predeceased by his wife; Marion Margorie (Mitchell) Lane; his daughters; Marina Crowell and Nadine Andrews; brothers Ronald “Ronnie” Lane, Richard “Dickie” Lane, and his sister; Edith Simm.

Arrangements have been entrusted to East Coast memorial Cremations & Funeral Consulting at 186 Water St. Windsor, NS B0N 2T0, 902-403-9292. Thank-you Andrew George for such professional, personal, and prompt care during this difficult time. Cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation or service. There will be private memorial and gathering later to celebrate his memory. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in memory of Donald Lane to the Alzheimer Society of Nova Scotia or Dykeland Lodge.
