Donald "Donnie" Brown Obituary

Donald (Donnie) Brown, 74, of Lower Sackville, NS, passed away peacefully in his sleep at the QE11 (Halifax Infirmary) on December 9, 2021.

Born, October 10, 1947, he was the son of the late Ken and Laurine Brown, growing up in Herring Cove. Donnie met his wife Betty in 1966 and they married in 1967 in Halifax. In 1977, he opened up Spryfield Auto Parts, which he passionately owned and operated for the past 45 years. He was well admired for taking pride in his work and taking a genuine interest in helping his customers.

Donnie enjoyed many passions and hobbies, including golf (he was a member of Avon Valley Golf & Country Club for many years), playing many musical instruments, while most would remember him playing his guitar at his home, gatherings and around a camp fire, watching sports with a special passion for NASCAR and he often spent time drawing and painting. Donnie enjoyed many Sunday afternoon adventures with his best friend and wife of almost 55 years, Betty and his sister Judy and brother-in-law Ed, which typically took place in the valley, and he loved spending as much time as he could with his granddaughters.

Donnie was pre-deceased by his parents and his sister, Jane. He is survived by his wife, Betty; sister Judy (Ed) Kalin, Leduc, AB; his children, Kenny (Jennifer), Calgary, AB; daughter Sarah (Norm) Hindy, Middle Sackville, NS; and his granddaughters; Ella, Simone and Emily along with many nieces and nephews.

Cremation has taken place and a private family service will take place at a later date.

The family wishes to thank everyone who has reached out with thoughts and condolences.
