Obituary
Carter, Douglas Paul-age 75, of Halifax, passed away Peacefully after a short battle with cancer in the V-6* Cancer Unit on July 31st, 2023. Born in Westchester, Nova Scotia, he was The son of The late Anton and Ruth (Langille) Carter, Doug loved His family, grandchildren Mariah and Josiah, nieces, Nephews and his extended Family.
Doug enjoyed golfing with family and friends. He will be deeply missed by his wife of over 44 years, Donna (Anderson) Carter, and loving sons, Anton Carter and Doug Carter, brother Anton (Phyllis) Carter And sister, Elizabeth (Dennis) Svestka.
After graduating from high school, Doug worked at The Royal Bank in Truro before pursuing a career at Sea. During his time at sea, Doug rose to the rank of Master Mariner and served on oil tankers and with the Bedford Institute of Oceanography. Doug retired from the sea and joined the insurance Industry to spend more time with his young family.
The funeral service will take place at 2 p.m. on Saturday, August 5, at Cornerstone Wesleyan Church, 1215 Hammonds Plains Road, reception to follow. For those unable to attend in person, the service will be live-streamed at www.cornerstonehfx.ca/live In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society of Cornerstone Wesleyan Church.
