Edna "Kaye" Breen Obituary

Edna Kathleen Breen, born June 7, 1933 in Antigonish Nova Scotia, passed away May 23, 2022 peacefully at St Martha’s Regional Hospital, with her family by her side.

Kaye “Nana” Breen was born the daughter of the late Allan and Margaret Burns of Sonora, NS.

Nana spent her entire life devoted to her best friend and husband, Joe, of 67 years, as well as her 8 children, 23 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband Joseph Alexander Breen, Merland, NS. Her 8 children, the late Margaret “Peggy, Dee” Palm (Mark), Massachusetts, Allen Breen (Irene), Powell River, BC, Elaine Berry (Paul), Greenfield, NS, Karen Langille (Al), Hilden, NS, the late Paul Breen, Debbie Arsenault (Francis), Antigonish, NS, Ronnie Breen (Lisa), Tracadie, NS, and Chris Breen (Vanessa), Merland, NS.

She is also survived by 23 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, 5 sisters, 3 brothers, 2 sister-in-laws, and was predeceased by 3 brothers.

Mom “Nana” was an amazing person. She was one of the strongest most determined people we have ever known. We were so blessed that she was ours. She loved being outdoors working around her yard and in her flower beds. She didn’t like to sit down or take naps, she always said she had something to do and Joe “Papa” was her right hand man. She loved being in the kitchen either cooking a big meal or baking amazing breads, cinnamon rolls, pies, etc.

Her family was her life. Always wanting what was best for them and helping them in whatever way she could. She loved laughing, camping, dancing, her and daddy’s trips to Florida, playing card games, outdoor games, and let’s not get into Christmas, it truly was “the most wonderful time of the year” for her and for us. As long as there were people around having fun, that was the place for her.

As per her wishes, Mom has been cremated and will be placed beside her son Paul in St. Peter’s Parish Cemetery.

There will be a Celebration of Life, Friday, May 27th, with visitation at St. Peter’s Parish Church, Tracadie 12 - 2 pm followed by funeral mass at 2 pm and burial in the parish cemetery.

A special thank you to the staff of St. Martha’s Hospital and the VON. Also, a big thank you to Dr. Rice and Valerie Pettipas. Family flowers only please. Donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.

Mom/Nana, Good Night Sweetheart, God Bless You, We Love You.
