Elizabeth "Betty" Dawson Obituary

DAWSON, Elizabeth Louise "Betty" (Allen) - 89, Kentville, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 3, 2024 in her home. Betty was born in Yarmouth, on January 13, 1935 to the late Ned and Rita (Scoville) Allen.

Betty graduated from Yarmouth County Consolidated Memorial High School. Betty was a graduate of Mack Business College. In her early years, she was employed at Sears and MT&T.

Betty, along with her husband, owned and operated Ann Vall Frozen Foods Ltd., U.G. Dawson Customs Brokers Ltd., and Kentville Truck Sufferance Warehouse, as well as an Antique shop and Auction Company, for a number of years in New Minas.

Betty volunteered with the Faith at Work Program and the Christian Ashram for many years, as well as ministering in a variety of ways alongside her husband's pastoral church ministries. Betty was a member of the New Minas Baptist Church. Betty was much loved and will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Betty is survived by her sons, Steven, Winnipeg, Man.; Paul (Dena), Kentville; Jeffrey (Bev) Red Deer, Ab, Joyce (Fuller) Dawson, Dawn (Owen) Dawson; 14 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandson; Misty (Sean) Penney and their 4 children, David, Shiyrah, Shomeret, and Ben; Mary Jayne (Jason) Shinduke and their 4 children, Amidah, Emunah, Omed, Tovah and 1 grandson Cian; Chantal (Mark) O'Laughlin and their children Abbygail, Aliana, Mikayla, Nowlan, Celina, Melody; Amy (Sean) Berry and their daughter Eva; Stephanie (Mario) Arseneau, Desiree (Liam) Beckett and their sons Brody and Conner, Nicholas (Jackie) Dawson and their daughter Lilly-Mae, Dominique (Ryan) Balcom, Shawna Dawson, Danielle Dawson (Dawson Parnell), Chantal Dawson, Derek Dawson, Drayden Dawson; as well as several nieces and nephews; sister in law, Eleanor; brother in law Bill Reyno.

Besides her parents, Betty was predeceased by her husband, Rev Ulric G Dawson; daughter, Deborah Legere; sons, Thomas, Michael and David; son-in-law, Laurent Legere; great granddaughter Batach, brother, Burton Allen; sister, Patricia Reyno

Cremation has taken place. A graveside funeral service for mom and Interment for both mom and dad, will be in the Lakeview Cemetery, Lakeville, at 2pm on July 28, 2024.
