Eric Robert George

Eric Robert George, 78 of Greenwood, passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by loved ones on October 3, 2021.

Eric was born in Antigoish on June 12, 1943.  He was the son of John and Grace George, Jenny George (stepmother).  Eric is survived by his wife Rosena George of nearly fifty three years on October 26. His sons Donald “Don” Henderson of Ontario; Robert “Bob” George of Middleton; and Dwayne George of Melvern Square.  Siblings, Malcom “Mike” George of Wilmot; David George of Lawrencetown; and Gareth George of Greenwood. As well as thirteen grandchildren, many great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. 

He is predeceased by his father John, mother Grace, and sons Tom Henderson, and Ivan Henderson.

Eric was a hardworking man, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle, brother, and friend.  He had a distinct and inviting grin that brought joy to all who met him.  Eric worked for many years as a welder and mechanic with Ronn Balsor.  He ran his own business, “Late Model Auto”. 

Eric had a knack for building or repairing anything that was put in front of him.  Not only could he solve the broken puzzles himself, but he could teach others as well.  Eric has passed his knowledge and intuition for welding, mechanic work, and building onto his sons and grandchildren. 

When he wasn’t working in the shop you could find Eric spending time with his beloved wife Rosena, square dancing or cruising the country on his motorcycle.  He and Rosena traveled over three hundred thousand kilometers on the bike together.  Eric loved country music and Nashville City.  He made the best homemade barbecue rub and smoked ribs.  His secret dessert was also prepared on the barbecue and was irresistible. 

Eric will be greatly missed by all who knew him.  Each memory will be cherished, and his legacy will radiate for years to come.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
