Obituary

Williamson, Evelyn Patricia “Pat” It is with great sadness that her family announce the unexpected passing of Pat or as she was known to her grandchildren and great grandchildren “She Who Must be Obeyed” on Wednesday, April 19, 2023 at the age of 92, in Dartmouth, NS. Pat was born in Toronto, Ontario on October 12, 1930, the youngest child of Bill and Florence Oliver. Pat is survived by her children Susan (Blair Harris) Melvin, Steven (Trudy) Williamson, Shelley (Terry Bond) Williamson; grandchildren Andy Williamson, Jeffery Bond, Evan (Erin Miner) Williamson Doubleday, James (Courtney Garrison) Ballard, Matthew (Victoria Adderson) Williamson Bellefontaine, Ashleigh (Kris) Williamson Patey (Bellefontaine), Mikki-Lynn Williamson-Groundwater; former son-in-law Al Melvin; adopted grandchildren Nicholas Verhaeghe, Thacyana Valois Silva and Nancy Susy (Taylor) Bryant; 13 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her husband of 67 years Albert Clare (Whitey) Williamson; her parents Bill and Florence Oliver; son Scott Williamson; brothers Reg Lowe, Bill Oliver and sister Betty Sutton. In 1951 she joined the Royal Canadian Navy and while serving at CFB Cornwallis met her future husband, Sub Lt. Albert (Whitey) Williamson. During their married life they lived in various parts of Canada but Dartmouth, Nova Scotia was the place she called home. When her children were growing up her main career was a mom; one she excelled at but also worked outside the home as a swimming instructor and at several large retail outlets, Eaton’s, Simpson’s/The Bay and then retiring as customer service manager at the Sears Penhorn store in 1991. For the next 28 years she travelled the world with her husband Whitey and other family members, including several winters in Clearwater, Fla and 15 winters in La Cruz de Huanacxtle, Mexico. Even though she spent time traveling and meeting new friends she was still spent a lot of time with her children, grandchildren and later her great-grandchildren. Pat was an active volunteer at the Shearwater Aviation Museum (12 Wing Shearwater) and the Art Gallery of Nova Scotia.

Pat will be greatly missed by her family and friends. A Celebration of Life will be held Sunday, July 9th 2pm – 4pm at the Austenville Owls Club 34 Oakdale Cres., Dartmouth, NS.
