It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Frederick Simon "Sam" Brewer, 57 of Berwick, NS, who passed away in Valley Hospice, Kentville on Saturday, 22 May 2021. After a long battle with cancer Simon slipped away quietly with his mom and sister Rosanne by his side. Simon was born on 29 July 1963 at home in Woodlawn, Nova Scotia to Dianne (Swindell) and James (Jim) Brewer Senior.
Simon is survived by his mother Dianne of Windsor, sisters; Rosanne of Kentville, Tammy (Mark) Isnor of Berwick, Monica (Pat) Baisley of Windsor, Leah (Darren) Ireland of Cow Bay, and brother James (Beverly) of Dartmouth, close friend and mentor Gary Smith of Windsor and long-time friend Carolyn Ferron of Berwick. Simon left behind many nieces and nephews, and his extended family and friends.
Simon was predeceased by his father and took on the role of protector of his mom and sisters.
He was an old soul with some very traditional values. He did not have a lot to say but he missed nothing. He had a quick wit and was always able to make you laugh. Simon did not like to sit idle and was quite the handyman who also had a green thumb. Simon took great pride in his vegetable garden and was always willing to share.
Simon’s family would like to say a heartfelt thank you to the doctors, nurses, staff and volunteers of Valley Hospice. You are all truly amazing individuals whose kindness and compassion were greatly appreciated and will never be forgotten. The family was truly blessed to have your care and support during this very difficult time in their lives.
Cremation has already taken place. There will be no visitation and a celebration of Simon’s life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to Valley Hospice or plant a tree in memory of Simon.
How lucky were we to have someone like you in our life that made saying goodbye so hard.
You will always be just a heartbeat away.
