Gary Hirtle Obituary

Gary Cecil Hirtle, a beloved father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away on March 10, 2024, at Valley Regional Hospital. He was born on November 24, 1952, in Hamilton, Ontario, and his departure has left a profound void in the lives of those who knew and loved him.

Gary was a devoted father to his daughter, Crystal Beckwith,(Nick Salzman) and a cherished grandfather to Phoenix, Austin, Owen, and Jace Salzman. He was eagerly anticipating the arrival of a soon-to-be great-granddaughter, a testament to the enduring legacy he leaves behind. Gary's love and dedication to his family were unwavering, and his memory will forever be cherished by those whose lives he touched.

In addition to his immediate family, Gary is survived by his sisters, Joyce King, Judy Deveau, Maxine McCorry, Shelia Hawkins, Sharron Barrett, Velma Griffith, and Darlene Frost, as well as his brothers, Ted Hirtle and Stanley Hirtle. He was also a beloved uncle to many nieces and nephews. Gary was predeceased by his mother, Rose Leedy, his father, Russell Hirtle, and his brothers, Elwood (Woody) Hirtle, James Hirtle, and Sheldon Hirtle.

Gary's life was marked by his passions and interests, which brought him joy and fulfillment. He had a green thumb and found solace in tending to his garden year after year, even when his health was not at its best. His love for hunting and fishing in his younger years was a testament to his adventurous spirit. Gary was also a collector of many things, including coins and his prized piggy banks, which held sentimental value for him.

One of Gary's greatest pleasures was making pickles and sharing them with anyone who was willing to try them. His generosity and love for creating and sharing food were a reflection of his kind and giving nature. He also found joy in socializing and forming connections with others, often frequenting the mall to engage in heartfelt conversations with shop employees and fellow patrons in the food court. His ability to forge meaningful relationships with those around him was a testament to his warm and compassionate spirit.

In accordance with Gary's wishes, there will be no funeral service, and he has requested no flowers. Instead, his family and friends are encouraged to honor his memory by sharing stories, memories, and moments of joy that they shared with him. Gary's legacy will live on through the love and memories he leaves behind, and he will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Gary Cecil Hirtle's presence in this world was a gift, and his absence leaves a void that cannot be filled. May his spirit find peace, and may his memory continue to bring comfort and solace to those who mourn his loss.
