Gary lost his fight with COPD at the Yarmouth Regional Hospital with Melvin and Ann by his side. Gary was the son of the late George (Pat) Saulnier and the late Rosaline (Robicheau) Cottreau. He is survived by his siblings Allan (Elizabeth), Auburn, NS, Joan (Victor) Comeau, Meteghan River, Melvin (Ann), Saulnierville, Randy (Sally), Meteghan Station, and Wanda (Shawn) Jordan, Meteghan Center. He was predeceased by brother Ronnie. He leaves behind many nieces and nephews, which includes his godson, Cory Saulnier. He also leaves behind many cherished friends, of which he had a lot.
Gary was a real character. He loved to tell stories, some bent the truth a little bit, making them more interesting. He was comical and loved to make people laugh. He also lived his life in his own way, making some questionable choices along the way. They were his, and, we accepted hiim for who he was. He was also a hard worker, taking on any job requiring his carpentry and painting skills. He made, and kept, many friends through his work. He will be missed by so many of us, his family, his friends, and by his "adopted" family, Danny, Angela, Jared, and Madison Barkhouse. They loved and cared about him as one of their own. Jared was especially close to Gary. He was his special buddy. Saying goodbye is never easy. We will hold you in our hearts forever. We love and miss you, Gary. Rest easy. Special thanks to the nurses and doctors in the ICU for their care. A very special thank you to Melvin and Ann who were by his side throughout his short stay. Many of us visited and at least got to tell him we loved him.
There will be a graveside memorial at the Saulnierville cemetary on August 19, 2023 at 10 am.
