Obituary
Burke, George Robert - age 79, of Halifax, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 25, 2023 at the QEII Hospital in Halifax. He was the son of the late John and Laura (Casey) Burke.
George was a hard worker, working for many years to provide for his family. He retired after 35 years from CP Express Transport. He loved country music, playing guitar, and teaching his children and grandchildren his many skills and talents. He had his own special, individual bond with each of his children which he cherished. George will be dearly missed for his storytelling and his witty sense of humor.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 61 years Heather (MacAskill); his loving children Bonnie Conrad, John (Lisa), Robert (Karri) and grandchildren Amanda, Logan, Jace, Ethan, and Emily. George was the last remaining sibling of the Burke family. Predeceased by his siblings Monica, Kay, Marion, Helen, Joan, Mary and brother Billy Burke. He was predeceased by son-in-law Brian Conrad. He leaves behind many nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Thank you to the nurses, respiratory therapists, and staff at the QEII Emergency Department. A special thank you to Dr.U. Haider and staff for their excellent care over the years. Cremation has taken place and interment will follow at a later date. Donations can be made to the charity of your choice in memory of George.
