George "Benny" Benjamin Caldwell

It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of George “Benny” Benjamin Caldwell – 86 of Windsor on Thursday September 2, 2021 with his family at his side at Hants Community Hospital.

Benny was born January 4, 1935 to the late William and (Sarah Whitehead) Caldwell. He spent his entire career in construction retiring at 72 from W. Eric Whebby General Contractors. He was a cancer survivor of many years. He was an avid walker making many loops around the Causeway and downtown daily. He and Carol enjoyed regular shopping trips to the Valley. They were always the first to arrive at family gatherings and enjoyed our meals together and a piece of cake for dessert.

Benny is survived by his wife of 65 years Carol (Shay) Caldwell and their sons Terry (Janice), Wade and daughter Lisa. Granddaughters; Christina (David Meister), Elizabeth (Adam) Sanford, Cailin and Tamara and grandson Marcus. Great-grandchildren Amanda Caldwell, Jemma and Jessa Sanford, Isaiah, Jacob, Ellie and Faith. Sisters; Gloria Gibson, Jennie (Dean) Baxter, sister-in-law Patsy Siler and many nieces and nephews.

Benny is predeceased by son Mark Anthony Caldwell and grandson Jacob Terry Caldwell as well as his sisters; Joyce Kelly, Caroline Garland, half sister Katherine Trider and his brothers, Frank, Cecil, Ross, Doug, and half brothers Ralph and Don Whitehead.

Following Benny's wishes cremation has taken place with no memorial service at this time.

The family would like to thank EHS, Valley Regional Hospital, Hants Community Hospital, Dr. Catherine Smith and the palliative care nurses and staff. Also to family and friends for their messages of condolences, calls, visits, and food.
