George "Reuben" Burgess Obituary

Reuben Burgess, 89 formerly of Beaverbrook passed away on December 24, 2023 at Aberdeen Hospital in New Glasgow. Born on December 14, 1934 he was the son of the late Murray and Edna Mae Burgess(McCallum).

Reuben was the best father, father-in-law, grandfather, great grandfather. Always willing to lend a hand no matter what his children needed help with; whether it was dog sitting, house sitting, home repairs or home construction. He was a quiet, kind and loving grandfather/great grandfather who was loved by all and will be greatly missed. Reuben was an avid reader, enjoyed his daily walks but most of all treasured time spent with family.

Reuben’s career spanned over 40 years working as a professional truck driver for Smith’s Transport and Moffatt’s / CP Express. He was known as the guy you could count on to get the job done.

Reuben is survived by Sons: Rodney(Cheryl), Dale both of Beaverbrook. Daughter Dawn(Larry) Lower Truro. Grandchildren: Valerie(Scott), Melissa (Kevin), Christopher(Vanessa), Ryan(Marla), Ben(Caley), Charlie(Mariah)& Katie. Great Grandchildren: Cole, Jaxson, Kaden, Rowan, Brett, Klaire, Kaleb, Kimber, Leni, Myla, and Harley. Brother Alvin (New Zealand), Sisters-in-Law Ruth Burgess & Marsha Burgess.

Reuben was predeceased by his wife Carol(Carter), Brothers: Ross, Leon, Darrel and Rodney. Sisters: Geraldine, Ester, Heather, Sisters-in-Law Norma Burgess and Pat Burgess Daughter-in-law: Kathy. Grandson: Jamie.

In keeping with Reuben’s wishes there will be no service or visitation. A family burial will take place at a later date.

The family would like to thank his caregivers for the kindness and compassion he received while residing at Glen Haven Manor for the past few months.
