Glen Francis Fitzgerald, born in Three Mile Plains, Nova Scotia on May 7, 1948, passed away peacefully at Hants Community Hospital in Windsor, Nova Scotia on January 17, 2024. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle, and his memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
Glen is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Linda (Spicer), his son Jeff (Sonia), his daughter Sherra (Jimmy), his grandchildren Kelsey (Albert), Andrew (Jessica), Hailey (Thomas), Emily (Connor), and Leah, as well as his great-grandchildren Ava, Brooklynn, and the soon-to-be Baby Girl Evans and Baby Pei. He is also survived by his brothers Bobby (Carol), Blaine (Diane), Bruce (Denise), and Jimmy, and his sisters Sherral (Bill) and Debbie (Reid), along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Glen was predeceased by his father Francis, mother Viola, brother Joe, and sisters Rita and Faye.
Throughout his life, Glen was known for his strong work ethic and dedication. He began his career working for Stevens and Fiske and Arnold Johnston, and later went on to run an excavator for Dexter's Construction for over 30 years. Outside of work, Glen was an avid darts player and enjoyed playing broomball with his friends. He had a great sense of humor and loved to joke around with his family and friends. He was also known for being the last one on the dance floor, always bringing joy and laughter to those around him.
Glen's love for his family was unwavering, and he will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle. His presence will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Cremation has taken place, and a celebration of Glen's life will be held at the Brooklyn Civic Center on February 18, 2024, from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm. The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the doctors and staff at Hants Community Hospital and East Coast Memorials for their care and support during this difficult time.
Glen's legacy of love, laughter, and kindness will continue to live on in the hearts of those who were touched by his presence. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who knew him. May he rest in peace.
