Ivan Eugene Fraser, a beloved husband, brother, and friend, passed away on February 4th, 2024, in Kentville, NS. He was born on March 10th, 1959, in Kentville, NS, to his loving parents Roland and Greta Fraser. Ivan was a cherished husband to Karen (Phillips) Fraser and a dear brother to Doris Schofield of Sheffield Mills, Audrey Poehl of Steam Mill, and Jessie Schofield of Glenmont. He was predeceased by his parents and his brothers Leo, Reg, Donald, and Eric.
Ivan's life was filled with passion and dedication, and his love for trucking was evident to all who knew him. He found joy and fulfillment in his work, driving tow trucks for Coffill's Towing, owning and operating a dump truck, and working as an owner/operator for Coastal Transport. During the winter months, he operated a snow plow for the Department of Transportation, and he eventually joined the DOT full time, receiving his 25-year certificate in 2023. Ivan's dedication to his work was unwavering, and he spent his vacations hauling onions for Wilmar Acres. He was known for his knack for striking up a deal and working on various side gigs, even if they weren't always profitable. His gift of gab was a hobby of his, and he enjoyed stopping to chat with anyone he met while out driving around. His daily trips to Tim Horton's parking lot were a testament to his love for making new friends and reminiscing with old ones.
Ivan's impact on the community was profound, and his warm and friendly nature endeared him to all who crossed his path. His passing leaves a void that cannot be filled, and his memory will forever be cherished by those who knew and loved him.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the Community Hall in Sheffield Mills on Saturday, February 17th, 2024, from 1:00-4:00, where friends and family will gather to honor and remember Ivan's life. The family would like to extend their special thanks to Dr. Scott Lee, Dr. Cull, and all the staff on medical B for the excellent care that Ivan received during his 30-day stay at the Valley Regional Hospital. Cremation has taken place under the direction of the East Coast Memorial in Windsor. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Ivan's memory to the Diabetic Association.
Ivan's presence will be deeply missed, but his spirit will live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to have known him. His kindness, generosity, and unwavering spirit will be remembered and cherished for years to come. Rest in peace, Ivan Eugene Fraser.
