James Francis Donnelly

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of James Francis Donnelly on May 12, 2022.

Born in Glasgow, Scotland, much to his chagrin, Jim was profoundly Irish. He spent his formative years in Belfast, Northern Ireland, later emigrating to Nova Scotia to continue his career with Michelin North America. A Michelin man through and through, he enjoyed his time with colleagues and friends in both the Granton and Waterville plants for over two decades.

After retiring from Michelin, he spent a number of years at Sears and Superstore in New Minas collecting many more friends along the way.

Years spent as a soccer referee allowed him to continue his passion for the sport and his beloved Glasgow Celtic and Liverpool football clubs.

A life long Catholic, Jim was a member of St. Joseph’s Parish and was a Minister of Communion, and Lector for many years.

Jim is survived by his loving wife of over fifty-two years, Roberta; children Jon, Jennifer, Joanna and Melissa; sons and daughter in-law, Jonathan, Dustin, and Suzanne; the lights of his life, granddaughters Tyra and Rory; as well as many relatives in Northern Ireland, England, New Zealand, Australia, and the Canary Islands.

A special thank you to his entire medical team including Doctors: McCarthy, Harrigan, White, Ritchie, and Merryweather; The Palliative Care Team including Doctor McNeil and Nurse Tara Dubuc, the Annapolis Valley VON, and the Valley Regional Hospital Oncology Department. Your care and support helped him immensely during this difficult period.
