YOUNG, Joan Sarah Anna
Windsor - With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Joan on July 19, 2023, at age 95.  Born at home in Ste Croix, NS, she was a daughter of Miner St. Clair and Blanche (Lane) Cochrane. Joan spent most of her married life living in Ottawa, ON where she raised her family. Joan enjoyed the outdoors and participated in many activities such as downhill and cross-country skiing, skating, golfing and biking. By far her most enjoyable activity well into her 90’s was a good walk. Puzzles and bridge were enjoyable evening activities. After becoming a widow she set out on her travel bucket list: walking the Great Wall of China, riding camels in Tunisia, trekking to the tombs of the Pharaohs, castles in England and the Australian Outback to name just a few places.
Loving and cherished mother of Wayne (Susanne), Ottawa, ON, Carol (Peter Pangman) of Tulsa Oklahoma, Brenda (Bill Frape) Ste Croix, NS, and Sharon, Hamilton ON. Treasured grandmother of Christopher, Rachelle, Perry, and Sarah.  Cherished great-grandmother of Evelina, Khalil and Kareem.  Joan will be dearly missed by her long-time companion Peter South.
Besides her parents Joan was predeceased by her husband John Young, sisters Agnes, Lois, Caroline, brothers, John and Paul and their respective spouses.
Arrangements have been entrusted to East Coast Memorial Cremations & Funeral Consulting, (902-403-9292). A Celebration of Life will take place 2pm Saturday July 22 in Ste Croix United Church. Rev K. Cox officiating. A reception will follow in the church basement. Interment will be held at a later date in Ste Croix Cemetery. Donations in memory of Joan can be made to the Alzheimer’s Society of Nova Scotia, or a charity of one’s choice.
