Joel Michael Westcott

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Joel Michael Westcott, on Friday August 25th, 2023 peacefully at his home in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia. 

Joel was born on January 12th, 1983 to the late Rose (Rosie) Marie Jennings-Westcott and Michael Eugene Westcott. Joel grew up in St. Margaret’s Bay, Nova Scotia. He was currently a Foreman with McCarthy’s Roofing, Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, he leaves his amazing crew and work friends.

Joel was one of a kind, like no other! He loved life, he was a kind, compassionate soul, with the kindest heart, he was always there to lend a hand, his contagious laugh and smile could light up a room, and melt your heart. He had a long list of friends, and if you were his friend, you knew it. He loved you deeply. 

Joel’s happy place was on the seat of his bike, cruising with his Dad and friends, making memories along the road, his motto Ride or Die, will be forever etched in all our hearts. 

Joel will be desperately missed and fondly remembered by all who knew this amazing man. He was a loving Son, Brother, Uncle, Nephew and the most amazing friend.

Joel was predeceased by his Mother Rose (Rosie) Marie Jennings-Westcott, he is survived by his Father Michael Eugene Westcott (Gloria Joyce), step Mother Colleen Dunn Westcott, and step Brother Andrew Fader. Aunts Elaine (Craig) Connelly, Brenda (Ken) Hall, Judy (Allen) Mathews, Kathie (Hubert) VanMale, Milly Mason, Barbara (Tom) Hood, Wanda Langille, Grandmother Elsie Langille,  many cousins, nieces and nephews.

Joel had his other family, his one and only person Ashley Lee Cropper, their bond to each other was incredible, they gained strength from each other, and if you knew one of them, you knew them both. Joel’s other Mother Dale J. Cropper, loved him unconditionally, and was always there for him, whatever life through in his way. He was the most loving “Uncle Joel” to Ashley’s children Jermey, Jase, Elsie and Hudson, they awaited their adventures and time spent with him, they will forever miss his bear hugs and kisses.

A Celebration of life reception for Joel and his Mother Rosie will take place, the families are currently making plans, further details will follow.
