She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend. Joy was the only daughter of the late Earl and Queenie Lantz of Marriotts Cove. Joy married Harold Spidle on May 19,1962, and they lived and raised their daughter, Angela, in Marriotts Cove. Joy was predeceased by her husband of 49 years, Harold.

She is survived by her daughter, Angela Jessome (Keith Quinn), her former son-in-law, David Jessome, her grandchildren Daniel Jessome (Jessica) and Amanda Harnish (Jagger), and her great-grandchildren Piper and Bentley Jessome. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren brought immeasurable happiness and pride to her life.

Joy was a woman of remarkable strength, grace, and compassion. Her warm smile and kind heart touched the lives of everyone she met. She was known for her unwavering faith, her love for her family, and her dedication to serving her community. She found solace in the simple pleasures of life, whether it was enjoying time with her family at the lake, taking leisurely walks, or spending time playing cards with her family and friends later in life.

A long-time member of AEnon United Baptist Church in Chester Basin, Joy was also a member of the Women’s Missionary Society (WMS), where she found joy in helping others both locally and around the world. Her commitment to her faith and her community was unwavering, and she touched the lives of many with her kindness and compassion.
