Judith Diane Marie (Fancy) Maxwell

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Judith Diane Marie Maxwell, born February 5, 1948 in Windsor, Nova Scotia. She passed away peacefully on April 13, 2023 in Windsor, Nova Scotia.

Judith was the daughter of the late Oscar and Nina (Leopold) Fancy of Mt. Denson. She was the beloved mother of John R. and Robert R. O. and the devoted sister of Frances Fancy of Mt. Denson, Elva Whalen of Brampton, Ontario, Linda Banks of Garlands Crossing, Grant of Truro, and Glen of Newport Station. She was predeceased by her ex-husband Raymond Maxwell, sisters Doreen Wood and Dawn Fancy, and brother Dale. She was also the cherished aunt of many nieces and nephews.

Judith was a teacher for 46 years at Falmouth and Newport Station, retiring in 2016. She was passionate about teaching and was loved by all of her students.

In keeping with Judith’s wishes, there will be no funeral or visitation. Burial will take place at a later date at Centre Falmouth Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Society or to a charity of one’s choice.

The family would like to thank all the doctors, nurses, paramedics, homecare workers, VON nurses, and other staff who helped take care of Judith over the years. Special thanks to the two women who stopped to help her at the side of the road.

Judith was a kind and generous soul who will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. May she rest in peace.
