Kenneth William Lowthers, 63, of Three Mile Plains, Nova Scotia passed away at home on Friday January 12, 2024 following a difficult cancer diagnosis.
Ken was a member of the Labourers Local Union 615 during his working years and was a dedicated blood donor having made 115 donations.
As an avid outdoorsman he could often be found at his camp or woodlot. Following his ATV accident, early retirement allowed him more time to enjoy hunting and trapping. He also took great pride in his garden and making his own mustard pickles, relish and chow.
Even though his time on earth was cut short he was very proud of his daughters’ accomplishments and always looked forward to their visits with his favorite dog Reggie.
He will be deeply missed and survived by his wife of 40 years, Susan (Chambers) of Three Mile Plains; his daughters Melissa and Meaghan Lowthers of Moncton, New Brunswick. His sisters Doreen (John) Cole of Aylesford, Betty Johnson of Wolfville and Donna Thibodeau of Upper Sackville, his brother David (Patty) Lowthers of Newport Station, mother in law Molly Chambers of Brooklyn and many nieces, nephews, aunts, cousins, friends and extended family members.
He is predeceased by his parents, Murray and Ilene Lowthers, brother Donny Lowthers, brother in law Jim Thibodeau, brother in law and great friend Eric Johnson, nephew Shawn Lowthers and niece Amanda Lowthers.
A celebration of life officiated by Rev. Brenda McKay will be held on Thursday, January 18th from 1-3pm at the Three Mile Plains Community Hall.
The family would like to extend thanks to his frequent visitors and callers who kept his spirts up and especially those who helped him finish his “work to-do list”. Thanks to Amber Philips and her palliative care team, VON and EHS.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to The River View Haven Cemetery Association, 8651 Hwy 14, McKay Section, Nova Scotia B0N 2A0, firstname.lastname@example.org, The Three Mile Plains Community Society, 4474 Hwy 1, Three Mile Plains, Nova Scotia B0N 2T0, or a charity of your choice.
