With great sadness the family of Kenneth 'Alden' Profitt announces his passing on Monday, July 17, 2023 at the Valley Hospice House in Kentville after a long battle with cancer.
Alden is grieved by his wife Marilyn Campbell, son Tim of Hornby Island, BC and daughter Nellie (aka. Chantal) of Halifax.
He was born on November 21, 1948 to Herb and Ella Profitt of Springfield, PEI.
Alden is predeceased by his parents and nephews Michael and Steven.
He is survived by his sister, Mabel (Jim), brother Wendell (Myrna) and Tim's daughter Lily, niece Lynn (Brian) and nephew's Trevor (Rosalee) and Kevin (Yvonne) and families.
Alden was a high school teacher spending one year at his former high school in Kensington, PEI, 32 years at Hants West in Brooklyn, NS and his last year at the new Avon View high school in Windsor. At Hants West, he co-chaired the Terry Fox run for 5 years.
Alden and Marilyn married in 1972 and enjoyed over 50 wonderful years together. They made their home in Wolfville and then North Grand Pre. In 1994 they adopted Tim and Nellie.
Alden served as area chair for the Avonport scouts and also as president of the New Minas Credit Union.
Alden enjoyed camping and paddling with family and friends. He had a passion for golf and where over time he achieved two hole in one's, biking and curling. At the Wolfville Curling Club, as chair of the senior curlers, he chaired a provincial senior's tournament.
Alden enjoyed yard work, gardening, traveling, stained glass work, spending time with his family and grandkids, and making one of a kind birthday cards for Tim and Nellie.
Heartfelt thanks go out to friends and neighbours for their support, to the VON and staffs of The Valley, Palliative Care program and the Valley Hospice House during Alden's illness.
Cremation has taken place and funeral service will be held at Davison's Funeral Home in Kensington, PEI, on Monday, July 24th, 2023 at 2:30 PM with visitation starting at 1 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or The Valley Hospice House, Kentville, NS. A reception will follow at a later date at the Profitt home in Port Williams.
