Margaret "Peggy" Cotie Obituary

It is with a heavy heart that I have to announce the passing of my mother Margaret (Peggy) Edna Cotie of East Tracadie. Born Feb 28th, 1953. Passing May 2nd, 2023

Mom was born in Antigonish to the late Ernest and Grace (Myette) Cotie. She lived in East Tracadie and after graduating high school she worked at the Monastery telephone office. After a couple years we moved to Halifax where she babysat many children. Every summer, Christmas ,Easter and long weekend we made our way back home to East Tracadie. In those early summers mom fished moss with her brother Gerard. In 1985 when her dad passed away she packed us up and we moved back home to live with her mother Grace. Soon after being back home again, she met Ray and they were partners in life and work. As a work team they painted churches, parking lots and homes. They were together till Ray’s death in 2009. Afterwords she took on a different job working at Levy’s Leather Limited. She loved her job. She worked there until she had a heart attack in 2018. She was unable to work after that but she’d love to fill her time with playing cards, especially crib with any and all the neighbours and or family who would take her on. Throughout her life music was a huge part and she always loved a good house party. Her other past times were crocheting, making jigsaw puzzles, sweeping the floors and decorating for Christmas!!

Mom was a social butterfly and her last few years of many hospital stays she loved all the friends she made and all the company she received, also having fun with the nurses and staff. She loved them and they felt the same way. After the last few years of many medical issues her body was just too tired to keep going. She fought a long hard fight and then God decided it was time for her to go home. Mom passed away peacefully at St Martha’s Regional Hospital.

Patrick, myself and the family would like to thank everyone for the prayers, love and the great care that she received from everyone and especially the Doctors, nurses and staff at St. Martha’s Regional Hospital and the QE2.

Peggy is survived by her daughter Roxane and son-in-law Patrick Clough (Alberta) Sisters: Anne Boudreau (East Tracadie), Laura Doyle (Erinville) & Sheila (Gary) Boudreau (Hampton, New Brunswick) Brother: Tony (Brenda Finnegan)(Pomquet River Road).
