Marie Maryland Gould Obituary

Marie Maryland Gould (Banks), Age 77 of Chipman Brook passed away peacefully at Valley Regional Hospital in Kentville on April 21 2024. Born in Yarmouth on October 13 1946 she was the daughter of the late Gordon and Elise (Vacon) Banks.

Marie married Lewis Gould and they lived in Aylesford where they had their son Alexander, the family later settled in Chipman Brook. They spent 45 wonderful years together until Lewis passed away on September 25 2022. Marie was a hairdresser for many years and loved working outside in the garden, quilting, card parties, going to the Friday night jams in Black Rock and a good cup of tea. She loved her family and friends and will be greatly missed.

Marie is survived by her three sons Alexander (Laura) Gould, Wilbert Benjamin, Norman (Clarita) Benjamin; sisters Goldie Hansen, Irene (Michael) Tough, Pearl (Rheal) Hebert; brothers Emmerson (Joy) Banks, Gordon (Holly) Banks, Oscar (Connie) Banks; granddaughters Charity Benjamin and Shyla Benjamin; two great grandchildren; along with several nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents and husband, Marie is predeceased by sisters Bessie Taylor, Frances Montgomery, Mary McDermott; and brother John Banks.

A celebration of life for Marie and Lewis Gould will be held on Saturday, May 25th from 1-4pm at the Black Rock Community Centre. Cremation has taken place and a private burial will take place at a later date. Donations can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
