Michael Brewster

A few days before his 71st birthday (1951 to 2022), Michael Brewster was called home to his eternal resting place with the Lord in the most peaceful way, surrounded by his family. John 14:2: “My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you?”

Beloved husband, father and grandfather, Michael adored his wife Joyce "Joy", daughters Deanna "Snoop" (Derrick) and Heather "Meg" (Craig) and five grandchildren: Thomas, Emilie, Tanner, Gabriel and Cooper. Michael’s four brothers and two sisters and their spouses were a great source of support and comfort to him while he was ill. He is predeceased by his loving parents, Osborne Brewster and Catherine Brewster. We will be forever comforted by many beautiful memories of Michael as Matthew 5:4 says: “Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted.”

Michael was a man of strong work ethic, many skills and a deep love for gardening, flowers and shrubs; he took great pride in his beautiful property which he and Joyce shared along with their memorable trips to Cuba and their dog Misty. He enjoyed his maintenance job at the Valley Regional Hospital for many years and while he retired at an early age from this role, it didn’t stop him from picking blueberries and apples for many years, as well as helping his daughters, friends and family members with any property needs. Michael’s beautiful light shone in each place he graced even during the days of his brief illness.

Michael’s family will be forever grateful for the gift of his life, for his kindness, gentleness, strength, courage, endurance and wisdom throughout his life and particularly in the face of health-related trials over the years. The family would like to express their sincere thanks and gratitude to Michael’s family members, friends and neighbours, as well as for the incredible VON care assistants who helped make him as comfortable as possible during his last days. The family is also extremely grateful for the ALS Society of NS and NB and their loan equipment program.

There will be a small celebration of Michael’s life in the coming weeks.
