Norman Foley Obituary

It is with broken hearts we announce the passing of Norman Arnold Foley at the Hants Community Hospital on October 29, 2019.

Born on August 3, 1947 in Windsor, he was the son of the late William and Myrtle (Barker) Foley.

He is survived by his wife of fifty years, Donna (Dill Foley). Daughters; Nicole Foley (Andrew Davidson) of Winnipeg, MB, Stephanie Foley of Middleton, NS. Grandsons; Brody Fox of New Glasgow and Tye Burbidge of Middleton. Brother William A. Bee (Doreen) of Windsor, sisters; Verna (Donnie) Hartt of Falmouth, Betty Hazel of Windsor and Bonnie (Mike) Collins Lower Sackville.  Besides his parents, he is predeceased by his granddaughter Larissa (1993).

At the age of 16, Norman went to work for Sobeys on Gerrish St. in Windsor to learn the meat cutting trade. When Sobeys new store was built at the Fort Edward Mall, he stayed with Wades at the old Sobeys location on Gerrish St. where he became meat manager then store manager. After much consideration, he left the store business and did different jobs before going to work for his father-in-law at C. Donald Dill Construction, building senior apartment complexes for Nova Scotia Housing, being the sole painter for each building, both interior and exterior. In 1995 his father-in-law retired and Norman branched out on his own as a house painter meeting numerous kind home owners.

Cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation or service by request. Donations in memory of Norman can be made to the Children’s Wish Foundation of Canada 125-202 Brownlow Ave. Dartmouth, NS, B3B1T5 or to the Charity of your choice would be appreciated.

We would like to thank all those involved in Norman's care during the past 1 1/2 years since his cancer diagnosis.  All the phone calls, visits, meals and so many kind gestures from family and friends, unable to list them all.  A special thank you to Dr. Helmut Hollenhorst, Dr. Stephanie Snow and Dr. Dzenita Hadzimurtezic (Dr, Jennie) who went above and beyond.

The EMTs for their excellent service and care transporting Norman several times.  The emergency DRs and the staff at Hants Community Hospital Emergency Dept.  The DRs and nursing staff on Unit 200 of Hants Community Hospital.  You are all angels.  God bless each and every one of you.

Last but certainly not least a big thank you for all the Tim Horton coffees and visits.
