Phillip Sanford Obituary

Phillip Grant Sanford, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away at home surrounded by his family on January 23, 2024, in Three Mile Plains, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and cherished memories. Born in Windsor on July 4, 1949, Phillip's life was a testament to resilience, hard work, and unwavering dedication to his family and passions.

Phillip's early years were marked by his fierce independence and adventurous spirit. Leaving home at a young age, he enlisted in the Army, where he honed his discipline and commitment to serving his country. After his time in the Army, Phillip embarked on a long and fulfilling career with Eassons Transport, where he dedicated 20 years of his life before moving on to Annapolis Valley Ready Mix. It was during his time at Annapolis Valley Ready Mix that Phillip earned the endearing nickname "Flipper," a testament to his fun-loving nature and ability to bring joy to those around him. His work ethic and dedication were unwavering, and he continued to find joy in part-time trucking for Glenn Mosher during his retired years.

Beyond his professional endeavors, Phillip was a man of many passions. His love for his Harley Davidson was well-known, and he found solace and freedom on the open road. He also had a deep affection for bass fishing, finding peace and tranquility in the rhythm of the water. For the past decade, he and Valerie enjoyed the simple pleasures of camping at Whale Creek, creating cherished memories with good friends that became part of their family.

Phillip's greatest source of pride and joy, however, was his family. He was a devoted husband to his beloved wife, Valerie Wilcox, and a loving father to his daughters, Melissa Sanford (Justin) and Shellie Elwood (Tim). Phillip also leaves behind his cherished sister, Jackie Sanford, three grandsons, and nieces and nephews. Phillip was predeceased by his parents, Cyril and Daisy Sanford, and his baby sister, Dawn Keddy.

A private family graveside service will be held at a later date to honor Phillip's life and legacy. Additionally, a celebration of life will be held at Phillip and Valerie's home in Three Mile Plains on February 3, 2024, from 2-4 pm, where family and friends will gather to share stories, laughter, and tears in remembrance of a remarkable man.

The family of Phillip Sanford would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Min Lee Sun, Amber Phillips, and Dr. Cussen and his staff for their unwavering support and compassionate care during this difficult time. Their kindness and dedication provided comfort and solace during Phillip's final days, and their impact will never be forgotten.

Phillip Grant Sanford's life was a testament to love, resilience, and the enduring power of family. His absence leaves a void that can never be filled, but his memory will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know him. May his spirit find peace and may his legacy continue to inspire and uplift those who carry his memory forward.
