Richard Galen Jones, age 88, of Meadowvale, Nova Scotia, went home to
be with His Saviour on August 21, 2022. He passed away after a brief stay at
Valley regional Hospital where he received excellent care.
Richard was born in Charleston, Pennsylvania on July 13, 1934, to Thurston and Mable (Lovell) Jones. He came to Nova Scotia in 1955 and ’56 to work in summer Bible camps. In 1957 he received a call from Lockeport Baptist (Ind.) Church where he pastored for 8 years before taking a position as principal of Kingston Bible College and Academy, where he served for 13 years. At the same time he became pastor of Calvary Baptist (Ind.) Church in Meadowvale, staying there for 47 years. While there, he was principal of the church’s academy as well as leading Calvary Baptist Bible School.
He is survived by his loving and faithful wife of sixty-five years, (Evelyn) Margery (Ray) and his children, Sharon, Florida; Richard (Carol), Connecticut; Paul (Sharon), Pennsylvania; Carly (Stephen), Maine; Bill (Tatyana), Georgia; Warren (Lauri), NS; Judy (Leon), NS; Mary, NS; Esther, Connecticut; Margery, Alberta; Bob (Leanne), NS; Kathy (Andrew), NS; Don (Lydia), Virginia; Michelle, New Brunswick), and Thurston (Heidi), Indiana.
He is survived by 64 grandchildren and 31 great grandchildren. He was predeceased by
a great granddaughter, Suzie.
A private graveside service will be held for the family at Tremont Cemetery.
A public reception will be held on Thursday, August 25, 2022 in Three Rivers Community Center, 41 Messenger Rd, Torbrook at 11:30AM for any who would like to come and meet with the family.
