Ronald McNeil Obituary

Ronald James McNeil, Age 72 , East Tracadie Antigonish Co. It is with great sadness we announce the death of our beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He passed away on October 23rd at St Martha’s Regional Hospital, surrounded by loved ones. 

Born in Toronto on May 26 1950. He was the son of Teddy and Doris McNeil (deceased) Ron was predeceased by his brothers Blaine McNeil and Dale McNeil. 

Ron is survived by wife Sue McNeil, children Jennifer McNeil (Martin Eggleton) Lee McNeil and Josh McNeil. Grandchildren Johanna MacDonnell, Shea-Lynn Desmond, Conner MacDonnell, Issac Desmond and Emily McNeil. Sisters Gale Frenette (Joe), Wanda Walton , Darlene Kelly (Ronnie) and many nieces and nephews. 

Ron dedicated his younger years to being an avid athlete. He played hockey, football, baseball and all the school yard games.

Ron had a long tenured career with Service Canada where he held various positions. He became well respected during his 30 years of service. 

Ron was passionate about his hobby farm and equipment, especially his John Deere tractor. He raised many animals throughout the years from dogs, chickens, cows, horses, pigs and turkeys. 

Ron enjoyed meeting people and building connections, some spanning over 50 years. He touched numerous lives throughout. Ron loved to share stories and experiences with those around him. Ron cherished his family deeply. His pride and joy were his grandchildren, who loved him dearly. 

Ron’s family would like to extend a sincere thank you to the staff at St Martha’s Regional Hospital ICU and palliative care units. 

Ron’s family invites you to partake in a celebration of his life starting with visitation on Friday October 28, 2022 starting 10:30AM and Funeral Mass to follow at 12:00 PM at St. Peter’s Perish Tracadie. There will be a reception to follow at 740 East Tracadie road. Memorial donations may be made to St Martha’s Regional Hospital.
