In Memory of Roy
Roy Douglas Landry of Amherst, NS passed away on Wednesday, May 31, 2023 a few days after his 60th birthday. After watching him struggle with cancer, I say this with as much relief as sadness.
Roy lived life simply. He loved his tunes…especially “The Blues” and he was most content puttering around in his garage grooving to Beth Hart. Surprising to some I’m sure, the man loved to shop. He was always dragging me to Moncton or Halifax for weekend trips. Look out Costco and Princess Auto!
Those fortunate enough to become close with Roy will tell you that he was a softhearted and emotional soul. As gentle as he could be, he felt everything deeply. Like with all of us, life didn’t always deal him a great hand. Many would argue, including him, that he got more than his share of troubles but despite the pain, he never lost his warmth and ability to love. He was a good listener and had a strong shoulder.
Doug Butts will always be remembered as a great friend with a huge heart. Thank you, Dougie, for all the times you were there for the both of us.
Roy worked at the Department of Transportation for over 40 years and was particularly pleased to have a few of his buddies drop in to see him while he was still feeling well enough to share a chuckle.
In recent months, he reconnected with his cousin Debbie who he called “Sissy.” He was comforted to have her at his bedside during his final hospital days.
He always had a dog and he loved them so much! He leaves behind his sweet Pittie, Riggs; a beautiful dog who misses him terribly. Donations in his memory can be made to the LA Animal Shelter.
Online condolences can be forwarded via www.eastcoastmemorial.ca or by visiting the funeral home Facebook page. Honouring his wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral service.
We were together for over 20 years. It wasn’t always easy but we loved each other. No more pain, Roy.
Forever Sandra B.
