My heart is broken.
It is with profound sadness I announce the passing of my beloved mother Shirley Bellefontaine (nee Phillips) who passed away peacefully, May 20, 2022 at the Dartmouth General Hospital.
She was the youngest daughter of the late Stanley Onslow Phillips and Georgie Margarite (nee Barnes).
Born September 12, 1944 in Quebec and raised in Londonderry Mines, Nova Scotia, she moved to Dartmouth where she lived most of her life. During her younger years, she was actively involved with the Roman Catholic Church. Later in her life, prior to her illness, she enjoyed dart and crib tournaments at the Royal Canadian Vimy Legion where she was a member for years. Mom enjoyed a game of cards with family and friends, I’m forever thankful for their heartfelt love and support.
She is survived by her devoted husband Thomas and daughter Nadine McNally, sisters Bertha Gaudet and Rosa Turko (Doug), and several nieces and nephews. Mom dearly loved them all.
Shirley is predeceased by her sisters Elizabeth Phillips and Joan Westhaver.
Mom struggled the past 5 years with congestive heart failure, COPD and diabetes. Thank you to Bayshore Home Health Care, Respiratory Therapy Specialists and Shopper’s Drug Mart Wyse Road for their support. Their team members provided excellent services. They were always patient, kind and compassionate to mom.
In lieu of flowers, please donate to a charity of your choice.
A celebration of her life will be held for family and friends at a later date.
God Bless
