Shirley Ryan Obituary

Shirley Mary May Ryan (Sampson) passed away peacefully with her husband and son by her side on Sunday, March 26, 2023 at Hants Community Hospital, Windsor, NS, at the age of 76, after a long battle, courageously fought. She was born November 3,1946, in Rockdale, Cape Breton.

She will be greatly missed as a wife, mother, and grandmother. Shirley is survived by her husband Alfred "Al", son Mark and grandson Nathaniel of whom she was so proud.  He was the joy of her life. 

Shirley was predeceased by her parents. She is survived by her siblings, Anna (Tony Melski), Evelyn, Al (Catherine), Rita Gyarmati, Francis (Linda), John, Judy (Bill Armsworthy), and Jerry.  She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.

Shirley was kind and gentle with a big heart and a wonderful smile.  She was a dear friend to many.  With her outgoing personality, she loved to attend bluegrass music festivals and cherished the many friendships with her bluegrass family.

The family would like to extend sincere appreciation to the nurses and doctors at Hants Community Hospital.

 In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the charity of your choice.

A Celebration of Life in Shirley's honour will be held at a later date.
