Stephen "Steve" Glenn West

It is with profound sadness that we announce the unexpected passing of Stephen “Steve” at age 68 of Ellershouse. 

Born on December 16, 1953 to Roberta (Misener) and Arthur West, Steve leaves behind cherished memories, and a hole that no one can fill. 

Steve married the love of his life, Catherine “Darlene” 44 years ago, and together they raised their son Tom in a home full of love, laughter, and adventures. Steve and Darlene were proud to welcome daughter in law Melissa to their lives, and were overjoyed spending time with the light of their life, their grandson, Jacob. 

Steve was always a man of few words, but loved to share his passion for music and instrument making, mechanics, and racing. After retiring from his career as a millwright with Michelin for 38 years, plus a couple of return stints, Steve would often be in his basement workshop repairing and building instruments, making custom guitar seats and other one of a kind creations. His true passion was always learning, and whether working at Michelin or around the house, he was renowned for his ability to solve the most difficult puzzles. At gatherings, Steve loved to gather around the kitchen table or campfire and play favourite songs or games surrounded by his friends and family. 

Steve is predeceased by both his parents, brother Stewart, a sister-in-law, and three brother-in-law. He is survived by his siblings, Linda, Sandra, David, many nieces and nephews and their extended families. Steve also leaves behind his two cherished cats, Stella “Girly-girl” and Guinness “Buddy” who will miss his generous treats, brushing and attention. 

A celebration of his life and a graveside service will be held at a later date.
