It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Tammy Lynn (McLellan) Doucet, age 65, of Belliveau Cove, NS. Tammy passed away on July 27, 2023 at her home in Belliveau Cove with family at her side after a lengthy battle with cancer.
Born May 16, 1958, in Windsor, Nova Scotia she was the daughter of the late Ivan (Whitey) and Zelda (Starratt) McLellan.
Tammy was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, as well as a kind sister, and a wonderful friend to all who knew her. She made friendships easily wherever she went. She had a love for animals, especially dogs and horses. Growing up in Hantsport, Tammy loved to ride and care for her horse, “Clipper”, never complaining about the “chores”. Kiwi, her loving canine friend, was by her side from the day she brought her home and a constant companion during her illness.
Tammy lived in Red Deer, Alberta for several years where her two boys were born. She returned to Hantsport, always considered home, maintaining many close friendships. With her sons Jeremy and Jacob, Tammy made a move to Saint John, NB, to take a job with Moosehead Breweries, where they lived for a number of years.
Tammy loved music! To play it, sing it or watch it, it didn’t matter. She enjoyed music festivals and met her husband, Tony, at a blue grass event!
She loved to travel but Covid-19 restrictions and cancer disrupted her plans to spend her retirement winters in Florida. Tammy was always at peace at the beach!
Her grandson Haylen was an incredible joy in her life, celebrating all his achievements with great pride.
Tammy could always find the positive in people, and was quick to compliment their strengths. She would often say, “Life is too short to be doing something you don’t like!”
The family appreciates and truly thank the many people who visited, shared memories, laughed, cried and cared for her during her illness! A very special thank you to the VON and Canadian Red Cross for their compassion and professionalism.
Tammy will be dearly missed by her husband Tony Doucet, Belliveau Cove NS; sons Jeremy Guptill, Avonport NS, and Jacob Guptill, Saint John NB; grandson Haylen Guptill, Saint John NB.; beloved dog Kiwi; brother Duane and Judi (Bradshaw) McLellan, Sackville NB; sister Carla (McLellan) and Joseph Price, Hantsport NS; Aunt Marylee (Starratt) and Terry Coldwell, Windsor NS; Uncle Richard (Dick) Starratt, Amherst, NS; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by parents Whitey (Ivan) and Zelda (Starratt) McLellan.
Cremation has taken place under the care of East Coast Memorial. A celebration of Tammy’s life will take place in Hantsport at a later date.
If so desired, donations in Tammy’s memory may be made to the Hantsport Memorial Community Center and/or the Canadian Red Cross.
