Vijay Kumar Dhamija

Vijay Kumar Dhamija, 70 passed away on Friday, May 28th, 2021, in Halifax at his home. He died of a heart attack. In his last moments, he was surrounded by his family.

My father was born on Oct 13th, 1950, in India. He was a simple but intelligent person. He did his mechanical engineering degree in India from NIT in 1972 with a Scholarship. He joined a government Steel Industry in India called SAIL and got married in 1976. He also did his Industrial Engineering with Gold Medal in 1989. He retired in 2010 as Deputy General Manager and came to Canada following his daughter in 2017 

He loved to write, and his favorite pass time was watching cricket. He could spend hours watching cricket without blinking his eyes. The house used to be full of his notes and papers. The best part was if you asked him what happened in 1989 at this date, he must have probably written a note on it and saved it somewhere. He was a very knowledgeable, well-read, honest, and kind-hearted gentleman. 

He was a loving father and a caring husband. He was a great help in his daughter's Startup, Shivani's Kitchen and was standing beside her at every step. 

He leaves behind his wife Rani, brother Surinder Nath Dhamija, sister-in-law Chanderkanta, daughter Shivani, his two favourite grandkids Kush and Kuvam, son in law Abhishek Asthana, nephews Ajay Dhamija, Avijeet Dhamija, and niece Rajni Dhamija who were very close to his heart. We are proud of you dad, and we are all going to miss you badly.
