January 2, 1957 - October 31, 2021

The family of William John (Billy) Britton of Windsor, Nova Scotia is saddened to announce his peaceful passing on October 31, 2021, at the age of 64 years. He will be lovingly remembered by his children Jeffrey (Jenny Walker), Angela, Jennifer (Stan Holland), Deborah (Alistair Nabi), and Lisa; grandchildren Kenna and Jake Britton, Kai, Icy, and Charlie Naugle, and Dara Nabi; father Douglas, sister Mary (Dave MacDonald), brothers David, Danny, and Andrew (Mairi); several nieces, nephews, and cousins, and former wife Susan Laugher. He will also be missed by his friends at Windsor Heights Apartments.

Born in Halifax, Nova Scotia to Douglas and the late Agnes (Duggan) Britton, Billy attended St. Pat’s High School, and was an avid swimmer and talented hockey player in his youth. He attended the Nova Scotia Institute of Technology to become an Oil Burner Technician, and later worked several years for Checker Taxi Company before moving to Windsor to raise his family. A profoundly spiritual man, Billy’s strong faith carried him through the many hardships he faced. Despite his longstanding battle with Ankylosing Spondylitis, Billy was an inspiration to many. He was incredibly proud of his children and grandchildren and their many accomplishments.

Billy was predeceased by his mother Agnes, and eldest brother Dougie. A Celebration of Life will take place in the spring. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Hants Community Hospital Foundation, Feed NS, or a charity of choice. The family wishes to send special thanks to the staff of the 5B Ward at the QEII Victoria Building and the 200 Unit of the Hants Community Hospital for the kindness and care they gave throughout Billy’s recent hospitalization. Sincere thanks are also sent to his many caregivers from Northwood Homecare, his VON nurses, and the many healthcare workers who helped Billy throughout the years.

Update: A Celebration of Life ceremony will take place on Sunday, May 22, 2022 for family and close friends.
